Balance Center Physical Therapy is excited to offer ONERO, the leading bone building program developed by Dr. Belinda Beck in Australia.  Dr. Beck is a researcher in bone health at  Griffith University, and established the LiftMor research trials in 2015.  Based on her research findings Onero was created and is located at The Bone Clinic in Australia.  Balance Center PT is licensed by The Bone Clinic to provide this program according to their protocols  in Northern Colorado.

How it works

Onero is Latin for ‘load’, signifying the most important parameter required to improve or maintain bone mass or density.  Due to the work of Dr. Beck and her staff, this is a proven intervention for persons with low bone density .  This evidence-based program combines high intensity resistance with impact exercise.  The outcomes are improved bone mineral density, increased muscular strength, decreased fall risk.

According to Onero protocol the program is required to be in-person and supervised by an accredited, licensed practitioner to ensure safety of participants.  The research supports that participation in the program must be 2 times per week in order to improve bone mass.

As an Onero Licensee, we contribute data to Dr. Beck’s ongoing research and have access to updates as they become available.

How to Get Started - call, text, or email for more information or to schedule an appointment

  • Schedule Initial Assessment

    • This will determine your readiness for the program.  Posture and Correct body mechanics are of utmost importance before beginning impact or high intensity resistance.  The assessment includes DXA scores, posture, strength, functional movement and gait, range of motion, medical history, pain, balance, current activity level, familiarity with exercise principles.

  • Readiness Sessions

    • One-on-One Training to establish correct posture, safe lifting techniques and baseline strengthening for any deficits discovered in the assessment.   The number of sessions will vary for each individual.  We will also determine appropriate load amounts for the Onero program along with any modifications needed for individual differences.

  • Begin Onero

    • The one hour sessions are supervised by an Onero licensed Physical Therapist, with a maximum of 3 participants.  The supervisor will provide specific feedback during each session to ensure safe and correct performance of each participant and will determine when and how much to increase the load for maximum benefit.

  • Follow-up

    • After being in the program for 12 months, a re-assessment will be provided.
